At Landsdale Early Learning and Enrichment, the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is not just a priority it's the foundation of everything we do.
Western Australia's early learning sector has recently seen some of the most significant regulatory changes in years, and we want to keep our families informed. Here's what's new, what it means, and how Landsdale ELE is already meeting, and exceeding, these standards.

🏛️ A New Law for WA's Early Childhood Sector
In March 2026, WA's Education and Care Services National Law Application Bill 2025 passed State Parliament a landmark moment for early childhood education and care (ECEC) across Western Australia.
For families, this means stronger protections for the 130,000 children who attend approved ECEC services in WA. Western Australia is committed to building safe, inclusive communities and this new law is a major step forward.
📋 Key Regulatory Changes You Should Know About
The Education and Care Regulatory Unit (ECRU) the body responsible for approving and monitoring education and care services in WA has introduced several important changes in recent months.
From 1 September 2025
Digital safety policies now required (Regulation 168)
Services must have documented policies and procedures for digital technology and online environments. At Landsdale ELE, we take children's digital safety and privacy seriously and have clear guidelines in place.
From 1 January 2026
Child Safe Principle embedded in the National Quality Standard
The 'child safe' principle is now formally included in Element 2.2.3 and Quality Area 7 of the National Quality Standard, the framework against which all approved services in Australia are assessed. This embeds child safety not just as a policy, but as a measurable quality standard.
From 27 February 2026
National Early Childhood Worker Register
All ECEC services are now required to provide workforce information to the new National Early Childhood Worker Register. This register tracks Working with Children Checks, qualifications, and identifying information across centres and jurisdictions and making it easier to ensure every person working with children is appropriately verified and qualified.
Child Safety at Landsdale Early Learning: We Uphold Every ECRU Standard
The Education and Care Regulatory Unit (ECRU) assesses services against the National Quality Standard, investigates incidents and complaints, and monitors compliance across WA. We welcome this oversight because it holds us to the standard our families deserve.
Here's how we have always actively adhered to ECRU requirements and child safety best practice:
✔️ Fully qualified, accredited educators. Our team meets and exceeds minimum qualification requirements
✔️ Current Working with Children Checks for all staff and volunteers
✔️ Documented child safety policies including procedures for digital technology, supervision and incident reporting
✔️ Vape-free and smoke-free premises at all times
✔️ CCTV throughout the premises
✔️ 24-hour incident notification procedures in line with the updated Regulation 176
✔️ Child-safe culture embedded in our everyday practice, not just our policy documents
✔️ Mandatory reporter training for all educators
✔️ Secure sign-in systems and pin-coded access and strict visitor protocols to protect children on our premises
We also participate in ECRU's sector update communications, so we're always informed of the latest changes and can act on them promptly.
